How does SENTRY Call Blocking work?

SENTRY Call Blocking is an end-to-end spoof protection solution that blocks unverified calls from being delivered to the end user’s device. By verifying the calling number, called number and the timeframe the call will occur, SENTRY Call Blocking ensures that calls from your outbound calling number can only be delivered to the called party during a finite time window. Legitimate calls are delivered, and illegitimate calls are blocked. SENTRY Call Blocking implementation is available via REST API and SIP. Below is the call flow by implementation method:

    SENTRY Call Blocking via API:

Step 1: The business sends call information to First Orion via REST API.

Step 2: First Orion creates a unique key for the calling number, and the number being called and identifies the timeframe the key should be active for the call to be made.

Step 3: The business initiates the call, and First Orion sends the unique key to the called party’s carrier via REST API.

Step 4: The carrier confirms the call’s authentication by matching the unique key. If there is no match, the call is blocked with SENTRY Call Blocking.

    SENTRY Call Blocking via SIP:

Step 1: The business initiates a call directing their SIP traffic to First Orion.

Step 2: First Orion collects the calling data from the SIP INVITE.

Step 3:  First Orion redirects the calling platform to continue the call to the calling-party's carrier and sends the verified call to the called-party's carrier.

Step 4: If the call is verified by First Orion, the call will be delivered to the called-party. If the call is not verified, it will be blocked using SENTRY Call Blocking.

Note: If the business is also using INFORM Branded Calling, the brand will be delivered for the verified call.
