Carriers may block calls to protect consumers and maintain network integrity. Blocking decisions are made independently by each carrier and may vary across networks.
Common reasons a carrier may block a call include:
- The carrier determines the call may pose a potential risk based on its own evaluation criteria
- The call recipient has enabled call-blocking settings, such as blocking certain categories of calls
- The call recipient has personally blocked the originating phone number
- The originating phone number is invalid or improperly formatted
NOTE: Each carrier applies its own policies and criteria when determining whether to block a call. In some cases, network conditions or call delivery behavior may cause an outbound call attempt to be reported as blocked, even if there is no ongoing or intentional blocking decision.
